Frankfrot/Mokena Illinois

by Rebecca

(Frankfort Illinois, USA)

I am in dire need of support. I recently found out my husband is a cocaine addict. I have never had to deal with a loved one with any kind of drug or alcohol addiction. I need an outlet so I can understand what to do, how to feel, what to say, and how to deal with the whole situation.

I am at a complete loss, I feel so betrayed. Please can let me know if there are any meeting in my surrounding are. I live in Frankfort Illinois. There is really no one I can talk to for help. Thank you in advance.

Rebecca

Dear Rebecca,

So very sorry to hear that your husband has become addicted to cocaine. Drug addiction attacks the brain and causes us to become different people. Your are correct when you that you need an outlet to understand what you’re dealing with and how you can both learn to move past this.

Al-anon can be a great resource for you if you work the 12 steps and find a sponsor to walk you through how to love your husband but hate his addiction. How to be supportive of your husband as he works the road of recovery, without ever enabling his addiction. The 12 step program teaches us all of this.

Here are some Al-anon meetings in your area:

– Sunday 06:00 PM Mokena Fellowship Center

19836 S Wolf Rd, Mokena IL 60448

– Monday 07:00 PM, Old Plank Trail Bank

20012 Wolf Rd Mokena IL 60448

take elevator down to community room

– Thursday 06:00 PM, St John’s United Church

11100 Second Street, Mokena IL 60448

Good luck,

Debbie
