Friend addicted to Lyrica, Xamadol, and Tramadol?

I have a friend who was addicted to some drugs like: Lyrica, Xamadol, Tramadol (french names). If he stops taking them, then he is suffering from a terrible headache and insomnia and a lot of stress.

Please help me to help him?

You need to learn as much as you can addiction and treatment.

Dear Imene,

The more you learn about drug addiction the more you will be able to offer appropriate help to your friend. Drug addiction is a disease of the brain that if left untreated is often fatal.

When we’re drug addicted we often become a different person, willing to do or say anything to get the drugs that our brain is convincing us that we MUST have. Our entire focus because getting drugs and taking drugs to feed our addiction and to make us feel “normal”.

I would highly recommend that you begin attending Al-anon meetings ASAP! Attend at least two meetings a week, start working the 12 steps so that you understand addiction and find a sponsor who can help you decide the best course of action to help your friend.

Al-anon was created to help loved ones deal with addiction and to find the right resources to help.
