God turned my hopelessness into HOPE

by Darlene

(Nederland)

I was so strung out on drugs i was homeless and I was a prostitute. But when i totally surrendered, i began to realize i was a valuable human being.

Even though i had been a horrible mother and i made a lot of mistakes I decided to get a sponsor and try working a 12 step program. It didn’t happen over night but by the grace of God the desire for drugs was relieved and the obsession to use everyday was gone.

I was employable and got a job, then a car, then became responsible enough to see my kids again. So it was very hard but so worth the effort!! Today i continue to help others in addiction and go to meetings. I have to be an example because my daughter is in treatment and she is 3 months pregnant and is trying for the first time in a year!!

Recovery is a beautiful gift that you give and in return you get to keep your sobriety. I have never been happier in my life because after you go through something as tragic as drug addiction and losing your kids and NOT DYING you tend to enjoy everyday a lil more!!! So I want to tell you that if you put forth the effort in yourself the benefits are AMAZING!! Don’t quit 5 minutes before the miracle happens!!!

and Finally Remember:
