He is just an addict

Addiction facts: my dish cable is not paid, my century link internet is about to be turned off, as is my sprint phone. My Firestone tire bill hasn’t been paid… why because my husband likes or chooses crack over EVERYTHING! I pay the bills like car insurance, heat… things you really can’t do without.

The title he is just an addict!

Addiction does CAUSE poverty!

by: Debbie Wicker

Boy did you hit the nail on the head; using crack takes everything else away. Addict only knows one thing, he NEEDS crack and he doesn’t care about anything or anyone else.

Crack is a drug that attacks the brain and changes it so that a person only thinks about the drug. It essentially “takes over” and the person who was there is gone. When a person is crack addicted, all emotional and intellectual development stops. If someone starts using at 14 they stay 14 years old. They think like a 14 year old and have limited capacity to mature and to become a fully functional adult.

The good news is that once a person stops using crack they become as they were before they started using. Also, with some work, they can begin the maturation process required to become a mature, well-functioning adult. Their brain can change back and they begin to live their live again.

Getting the addict to quit requires that their loved ones don’t ENABLE them by paying the bills and letting them live in the house and still use crack.

Good luck and I hope you can do an intervention to get your husband to STOP using! Addiction is a fatal disease if left untreated.
