No one likes a drugy!

I am a mental health counselor and I hear from clients everyday:

“He smokes pot and drinks ALL of the time and I no longer want to be around him.”

It’s so hard when someone you want to like and be friends with simply begins destroying their life. They become a drugy/drug addict and then it’s hard to know what to do with them.

You still like them but they’re no fun to be around because they’re wasted all of the time and you can’t trust anything they say. They’re passed out and stumbling and you’re stuck listening to them being stupid and incoherent. They don’t want to do anything because they spend all of their money on drugs and booze.

Jason, I recommend you tell you friend you’re sick of his drug use and that you’re going to find other friends who aren’t addicts to hang out with.

You could also contact his family and let them know that there son/brother is a drug addict and needs to get treatment and stop using.

Once you’ve done that it is probably best to move on. Your friend is likely to be addicted for a long time and you should look for other friends that will support your needs and not just take from you.
