In love with an alcoholic

I living with and in love with an Alcoholic. It wasn’t as bad up until a few weeks ago. It is now affecting me in more ways than emotionally. I’m not eating, sleeping, or functioning normally, and do not feel like myself.

Is there any type of discussion forum for advice that I can just do online?

There is a lot for you to do

by: Ned Wicker

The man you love has a problem. He is denying that he has a problem, so he makes his problem YOUR problem. Does he suffer emotionally? No. Does he lose sleep? No. More importantly, does he want to stop drinking? No again. As his disease progresses there will be less and less room for you in his life.

If you’re going to stay with him, Al-anon is the place for you to receive support and guidance. Our friend Tony Rice-Drew has a forum on http://gettingthemsober.com and it’s the third button down on the left hand side of the page.

Most importantly, your man is sick and he needs treatment. You need to demand a sober partner. If he is not willing to go to treatment, that is as much as saying you are not worth the effort.

Be firm and insist on his receiving treatment. If he refuses, you will then know you have no future together.
