Mother tried to hang herself tonight?

My mom tried to hang herself tonight, she is coming down off the drugs and I need to know what to do to help.

Of course, if it wasn't for her friend she would have died.

I'm so scared and I need someone to help me get her the help she needs.

Dear Emmalee,

What a dreadful situation for you and your mom. Did her friend make any attempt to get her medical treatment? Withdrawal can be a very dangerous experience, so she needs treatment.

Moving forward, you need support and I would suggest a call to Al-anon for help and support. Obviously, if you mom is a threat to herself, you need to get her to a safe place.

Detoxification is a possible solution, because she will benefit from the care of medical professionals and she will also benefit from their recommendations on treatment for her drug use.

I know it sounds like a lot, especially since you mom took such a terrible action, but there is hope. Make that call.
