My husband and myself are both addicts can our marriage survive

by Jamie

(Nanaimo bc Canada )

My husband and I are both addicted to Heroin and Meth we shoot it. He has been for 15 years off and on and me for 8 months he actually shot me up for the first time but I’m the one who asked I was curious… Huge mistake.

We both go to separate treatment center tomorrow for the next 90 days. We have two boys 13 and 9. Do you think we can keep our marriage together or is all hope gone?

There is always hope, but you have a huge challenge ahead for both of you.

Dear Jamie,

So glad that you’re both going into treatment so you can rid yourself of the fatal disease known as drug addiction.

Can your marriage be saved? I’m not sure, but if you both connect with God and lean on Him as your higher power and work the 12 steps, anything is possible.

Your addiction is much newer than your husband’s and will likely be easier to get rid of. Your husband has been using a very long time so his addiction has a much firmer grip on him.

You both need to go to AA or NA meetings DAILY for 90 days and work the 12 steps. Working the steps will teach you about your addiction but will also teach you about your relationship.

You both need healing from your addiction and to learn how to have a marital relationship that is positive and productive in your life not destructive.

Good luck,

Debbie
