Need help find group meeting for my daughter?

by Jan

My daughter is an addict and is receiving help from her doctor. I need your help in finding a group meeting that we can attend. I believe you said it is a 12-step meeting for drug abuse people.

Please I need your guidance to help us get though this.

Consider AA and Al-anon or Celebrate Recovery

by: Debbie Wicker

Dear Jan,

Yes a 12-step group is an excellent resource for both you and your daughter. To find groups do a search on your computer for:

AA meetings in (List the city where you live)

You should be able to find both AA and Al-anon meetings. AA are closed meetings for the addict and Al-anon meetings are for the family members of addict to get support.

You may also want to search for Celebrate Recovery Meetings in your area. These are Christian meetings for both the addict and the family and are an excellent resource for 12-step groups.

You should have your daughter go to meetings as often as possible. Many people believe in the old adage: “90 meetings in 90 days”.

Good Luck,

Debbie
