Williness to change critical to end your addiction.

by: Debbie Wicker

Dear Adhura,

Opiate addiction attacks the brain and changes us into someone that we don’t want to be. Going to your doctor is an excellent first step. Your doctor should be able to help you to limit the negative effects of opiate withdrawal allowing you to avoid relapse.

Opiate addiction is often characterized by trying to quit and then starting to use again. If you listen to your doctor hopefully you’ll avoid this negative cycle.

You also need to begin going to daily 12 step meetings, either AA or NA. Working the steps will help you to fully understand and process your addiction. Going daily will help you to move away from your current lifestyle and gain an entirely new support system of people who have been where you’re at now and successfully ended their addiction.

Good Luck,

Debbie
