Dear Robert,

You seem to be in a VERY dark place and trying to find a way out. Addiction is a terrible disease of the brain and once you are in it’s clutches you feel completely out of control.

You must be HONEST with your family and loved ones and let them know that you’re addicted to amphetamines and don’t know where to turn. The more others know, the more they can help find the resources you need ASAP. Have them help you go to a good doctor and ask his/her advice about the best treatment available in your area.

Find an AA or NA meeting in your area and start to work the 12 steps. You’ve likely already done Step One by reaching out to me on this website:

Step One: We admitted that we were powerless over alcohol/amphetamine–that our lives had become unmanageable.

Now you must work on Step 2:

Step Two: Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

Find good meetings in your area that will help you work the steps and that will also help you find the other resources you need.

There is a lot of help out there for you but you must seek it!
