The worst test in your lfe...

by Jerry

Hello my name is Jerry I live in Tulsa, Okla. It's been awhile since I last shared on here. I am 65 days clean. I went to treatment in Ft.Smith AR. at a place called Harbor House. That was the best place to go if you are truly done with addiction!!!!! I highly recommend it to anyone.

I came home to start my life over with my family, just to find out my addiction is not done with me. I'm being tested like no other. My wife lost her brother to a hit and run motorcycle accident and then I've been admitted into the hospital with a very serious and painful bacterial infection called enterococcus durans.

I'm still clean but yet it's been very very hard with everything that's been going on. But there is no way in hell I'm going to let my addiction win. I know it's very hard to become clean but if you really really want there's nothing that can stop you but you have to be ready and you have to do it for yourself.

You can't worry about family or your wife or your kids you have to be number one. Your recovery has to come first. I've been an active addiction for over 30 years, have to tried to quit many times. I always been "the fake it till you make it" type of act. I to go to treatment tell people what they want to hear just to get him off my back. I wasn't ready I am ready today.

Now I'm looking into the counselor to try to help people kick their addiction.

Thanks so much for the update.

Dear Jerry,

Thanks for updating us on what's happening in your life and with your addiction. Connecting with a counselor who you trust will be helpful as you continue to work through adjusting to life without using.

This is often the most difficult part of recovery for many of us. Re-adjusting back into our daily life after treatment challenges, but gets a little easier as time goes by.

So glad to hear you made it through rehab and are doing everything possible to avoid relapse,
