Son is alcoholic

(CONWAY SPRINGS KANSAS)

MY 26 YEAR OLD SON HAS ADMITTED TO BEING AN ALCOHOLIC. HE CAN NOT AFFORD REHAB WHAT WOULD BE THE NEXT STEP BESIDES GOING TO AA.

HE JUST ADMITTED TO THIS TODAY WE HAVE KNOWN FOR A LONG TIME. I KNOW HE HAS TO DO THIS HIMSELF. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS.

AA is Great!

Dear Pam,

Your son took an important first step towards getting better–he admitted that he had a problem. AA is truly a wonderful organization and they know exactly what is the necessary pre-requisite for a new life.

You just have to want to stop drinking. The 12 Step process works if you work it, so your son can enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life, but he needs to allow the process to unfold and not try to cheat the system and cut corners.

Encourage him to go to meetings and hold him to any promises he might make, even the ones he makes just to shut you up about his drinking. He’s a young man and there’s too much living ahead to be ruined by alcohol.

Treatment is always a good option, but so is AA. They will understand him and offer support. It’s a great family to join.

LOOK AROUND !!!!!

There are free rehabs in every state. If you look hard enough you can find an inpatient treatment center or find one in another state and send him to it.

You won’t regret the effort once you find a suitable rehab for him. If he wants sobriety bad enough he will find a rehab to go to and if he doesn’t, well then he doesn’t really want it bad enough.

Sounds harsh but that is the life of addiction. I know because i spent a year of my life in a rehab and i am so grateful for what God has done for me!!!!!!!!! Amen and God bless ya !!!!!!!
