Drug use?

by Rodger
(Alaska)

My daughter just moved back home. I found a large Baggie of empty gel caps, and a package of zig zags in her room. What does this mean?

Don't jump to conclusions
by: Debbie Wicker

Dear Rodger,

Please don't jump to any conclusions, but heroin is often put into gel caps when it's sold. Methamphetamine can also be sold that way. Heroin is also sold in plastic bags which may explain the zig zags.

It sounds like you have concerns about your daughter which you likely need to act on. Try not to argue with your daughter but in a calm way ask her about it. Let her know that you're concerned about her but will help her in any way that you can.

I would also HIGHLY recommend that if you believe she is using and selling drugs that you begin to attend Al-anon meetings in your area. Al-anon will help you to learn about drug addiction so that you can continue to love your daughter, but hate her addiction.

Hating her addiction means that you don't enable her addiction in any way, so that she realizes as quickly as possible that she needs help and must quit using.

Good Luck,

Debbie
