Call and Ask Questions

by: Ned Wicker

If you were a mother going on the local television news to ask viewers for help to buy milk for your children, people would line up to assist. That isn’t the case with drug addiction treatment.

However, you might want to do a little research for a free clinic in your area and go there for a consult.

Call your local hospital and ask to speak to a social worker, hospitals generally have social workers who will try to help you find answers. Also, local treatment centers might have payment plans, or ideas on how you can get the treatment you need.

Alcoholics Anonymous may also have some ideas for you and can at the very least provide some emotional support as you fight your way through.

Go to the ER room…

Dude, you need to go to the nearest emergency room and tell them what you are going through and they should help you.

When I was in active addiction that’s what I did and they gave me a few prescriptions to help me withdrawal and I never suffered one time.

I did however return to using as soon as I got “better” and it never worked long term. Dude you need a rehab to get off the streets and all the bad people you have developed a connection with.

Get you’re life back together first. I did 9 months in a homeless shelter/rehab and I have been doing really well now for 2 years. But it has come with ups and downs but if you use the tools you are taught you can do it.

The fact and the matter is that the stats are against us addicts but if you work your program one day at a time you can get your life back and not be under the thumb of any dope boy again.

I picked up something called the Bible and my life has forever changed for the great !!!! A good verse for me to use is:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and he shall direct your path”

Good luck and remember you gotta go after sobriety like you chased after dope. Look to the future and let your past behind you man. Trust me it can be done and it’s a way better life living sober and in a Godly manner.

I am far from perfect but what I am is clean and can actually help others which helps me bro. go get it before you are another statistic…..

Amen…

Financial help..

Hi Todd,

It is GREAT that you are reaching out for help. You ARE NOT ALONE!

I agree with JRM about going to an ER. My son did that and then they put him in the detox unit. You could call the hospital ahead of time and see if they have a FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE program. My son did that also. It is based on your income. He had an operation and had to have a cyst removed and he only had to pay, I believe, $26.00!

Also, you may be able to go on medicare if you income is low or if you have no income.

Also, you could go to an Alcoholics Anonymous (they talk about drug addiction, too) or Narcotics Anonymous meeting in your area. You can find meetings by looking on the internet. Members there may be able to steer you in the right direction in more ways than one.

Good luck and I’ll be praying for you-Lynette
