Need help and want your opinion?

by David

(Vancouver, Washigton USA )

I’ve been taking 180 mg of ms extended release morphine and 2 Oxycodone 10mg a day for 2 months. I’m trying to quit this weekend and I have a few Subutex to help me with the withdraws is it safe to say 16 hours is long enough to wait from my last dose to take the Subutex without getting sick?

Self medicating NEVER a good idea!

Dear David,

Based on your question I’m assuming you’re opiate addicted and trying to stop using. One weekend of sobriety may sound like it will allow you to end your addiction, go through withdrawal and be done with opiates, but it won’t.

Subutex is also an opiate and many, many people are addicted to Subutex. Taking Subutex to manage your opiate withdrawal is not likely to be successful.

I’d recommend that you seek medical support to manage your opiate withdrawal. Often people are on a low-dose of Subutex for weeks or a few months to manage their withdrawal from opiate addiction. At the same time, they also receive additional treatment so that they can retrain their mind and body to avoid opiate relapse.

Many people tell me that they have no money for treatment but addiction treatment is now covered by medicaid and any hospital ER should help you find addiction treatment that accepts medicaid.

Trying to manage your own opiate withdrawal with a few Subutex will not help you to end your addiction. Get the help and support you need and you’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel and how much more fully you’ll be able to live your life.

Also, start going to AA or NA meetings and working the 12 steps. They have helped millions of opiate addicts to end their addiction. If you are willing to work the steps then the steps will help you to stop your addiction.

Good Luck!
