Keep Options Open

Cocaine is so difficult because the cravings are so intense. I know the situation, as it has been repeated so many times. Parents try to be supportive, but they may be part of the problem when they allow a 42 year old to hang out, free room and board, and have no other expectations. His problem becomes their problem, which is just what he wants. Treatment is an absolute necessity, no matter how many times he’s failed.

If he refuses, there are some tough decisions to be made. Cocaine use is not an option. The parents might want to call Al-Anon and go to meetings for advice and support. Tough love? Perhaps, but the goal is to live happy, joyous and free, so the labor is worth it.
