A wonderful man is an alcoholic?

A wonderful man has come back into my life after 25 years. He is an alcoholic. It breaks my heart.
What do I do? How do I help Him?
I gently suggested A.A. I told him I would go with him and be helpful and supportive. Tell me what to do. I don’t want to watch him kill himself.

Then walk away
You cannot save him no matter how wonderful he is; he can only save himself. This is his journey to make it here on earth, you can never get back the 25 yrs you think you want with him. He must save himself and not guilt you into believing that you can help him. It is not true! You are now at the entrance of the funnel of the tornado. I am sad for you if you get sucked in, good luck on your decision and strength. |
