How to overcome cocaine addiction?

Hi Amy-

My best suggestion for you would be to go to a medical doctor or to a hospital ER where they can put you in a detox. unit. Also, you could go to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in your area and someone there may be able to steer you in the right direction.

Cocaine is a powerful, addictive central nervous system stimulant.

Cocaine increases body temperature, blood pressure and heart rate. You risk heart attacks, respiratory failure, strokes, seizures, abdominal pain and nausea.

As you can see, using cocaine is very risky.

I speak from experience since my son used cocaine this past summer. He had hallucinations, thinking someone was outside of the house trying to get in and get him. My husband and I were away. My neighbor called us and said we should come home because something was definitely wrong with my son. He had called my neighbor and asked him to come over to the house and to bring his cigarettes out of his car to him, because someone was outside trying to get in.

When my neighbor came over my son would not let him in. He was screaming out the window at “the person” he saw out there. We had to drive home 3 1/2 hours and it ruined a family visit. Some relatives came to the house and he finally let them in, as we traveled home in agony.

Please do not wait to get help! If you are driving around under the influence of cocaine you could hurt or kill someone else or yourself.

Good luck and I’ll pray for you.

Sincerely, Lynette

Amy,

The first thing you need to do is make sure you are healthy. Make an appointment and get a physical examination. Be honest with the doctor and tell him/her what is going on in your life.

There are excellent treatment programs for cocaine addiction and it’s a matter of doing a little leg work and finding one that is a good fit for you.

Secondly, addiction is a family disease, so I would suggest that your family members turn to Al-Anon for some support and information on how best to help you.

Together you can overcome this problem and manage your disease. It all starts with a phone call to your doctor.

Hi Sabrina-

I will definitely pray for you. There is a lot of help out there. If you are really desperate I think you should go to your local emergency room.
