Husband and wife are both using.

by Val

(Falbrook, CA, USA)

I do occasionally use for fun. However my husband since before addiction is very possessive & jealous. He has always been so aggressive he constantly is accusing me of cheating with his friends and family. He has double standard and is paranoid. Never experienced domestic violence but just his fear of losing me.

I just don’t know where to start but I can not take it any longer?

Drugs often cause jealousy and paranoia.

by: Debbie Wicker

Dear Val,

You haven’t mentioned which drug your husband is addicted to, but drug addiction often causes unreasonable emotions like fear, jealousy and paranoia. Addiction attacks our brain and turns us into someone that we don’t want to be.

You’re making a good choice for both you and your husband when you decide that you can no longer live with his addiction.

I would highly recommend that you get him to agree to go to a doctor and have the doctor help you to decide the best treatment needed to end his addiction.

I would further recommend that you both start attending 12 step meetings, AA or NA, at least three times a week. These meetings with help you to understand the addiction and to build a new life and new support system that doesn’t include using drugs.

Good Luck,

Debbie
