I’ve been a meth addict for over half of my life!

My name is Jerry, I’m 43-years-old and been an addict for over half my life. The first time I used meth I was around 15 years old. I was smoking and snorting it. The very first time I shot it i was 20-21 years old. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I loved it!!! I loved the sudden rush and energy just the whole feeling I got.

I moved on to other drugs and would stop using meth for long periods of time, but I would always do it if it was around I could not say no to meth no matter what. Its always been my drug of choice.

Twenty sum years later its made my life PURE HELL!!! The needle is one thing I would change if I could. If I could change anything in my life i would have never started using no matter what!!!

We can’t stop on our own…

I’m seeking help!!!

Dear Jerry,

Your story makes me feel so sad for you. It sounds like you’re trapped and you have no idea what to get to end the HELL that you’re in.

Having been a addict for so long I’m sure you feel liked you’ve tried everything to quit but nothing has worked.

But I think you last statement is the most important statement for you:

“We can’t stop on our own… ”

There is something that AA calls the “we-ness” of recovery. Addiction recovery as a team effort with everyone else you know who is and has recovered from their own drug addiction.

Are you connected with a community of people who are in recovery and tapping into the “we-ness” of recovery so that you aren’t alone with no support?

Please consider going to 90 AA or NA meetings for 90 days and working the 12 steps as hard has you can, as if your life depended on it, because likely it does. Get connected with the recovery community in your area and find a sponsor who can help you.

The 12 step program is about reconnecting with your higher power and allowing that higher power to help you to regain your life on your terms and as you want it.

You do need help and the 12 steps will help you if you work them will all of your heart!
