Comments for Supporting Their Habit

Anything Goes

by: Ned Wicker

Dear Liz,

Drug addiction is not just physical dependence, or psychological craving, it is a disease of the spirit. As the body craves more and more drug, as the mind focuses entirely on how to get more drug, there are no limitations on what people will do to get high.

People will steal from those they love and throw away everything that has meaning and purpose. People will lie, cheat and manipulate.

Women will sell themselves on the street. There is no moral or ethical code once the addiction has taken over their life. The long and short answer to your question is “anything goes,” which is why addicts need to get into treatment and recovery, to rebuild their lives and re-establish their humanity.
