Volunteering in drug rehab?

(UK)

I want to eventually work voluntary in drug and alcohol abuse but want as much information about about it as possible.

Can you please give me information about this?

Volunteer Options

Dear Gary,

Giving of your time is a fine way of serving your community and helping those in need. In drug addiction cases, there are a few things to consider.

One, there are churches that do outreach to drug rehab patients by facilitating community support groups. There is excellent material available for this. Google “Celebrate Recovery” and you’ll see what I mean.

You can call Alcoholics Anonymous and ask about volunteer opportunities, or go to there web site at http://aa.org and see what’s there. You can also contact local drug treatment centers and inquire about their programs to see if it’s a fit for you.

Social service agencies often have need for people just like you to take care of a variety of important tasks.

I hope you find a good place.
