My boyfriend using crystal and I don’t know what to do?

Tough Love

Dear Angelica,

You are in a very difficult position. On the one hand, you care about your boyfriend, but on the other hand, his drug use is very destructive and nothing good will come of it.

As he slips deeper and deeper into addiction, the crystal will completely take over his life. Nothing but using the drug will matter.

It has terrible, long-term consequences. For any relationship to move forward, he must get treatment and stop using.

You need to speak with his family and try to get some help to get him into treatment. Get some help and get some people around you.

You need an action plan and a family of people to pull together to help him. He needs to get into treatment and stop using. If that does not happen, there will be no room in his life for you, or anyone else.

Make some calls, to a doctor, to treatment centers, to Al-Anon and get some help for yourself. Alone you will not likely see much success, so you need people around you.

You need support too. If he refuses, if he will not allow any treatment, if he continues down that path, he will have no future.

It’s important for you to be strong, be firm and get a plan together…and stick to it. He will fight you on this, but he needs help. “No” is not an option.
