my life story..

(Sydney)

Hey guys, I’m Tamara. I’m aged 14 born on the 2nd of November I started getting into smoking and drugs after I was sexually abused for an ongoing of 2-3 years from age 6 until 9 by my dad’s step dad. It destroyed my whole life.

I suffer from depression, and still have the urge to start drugs or smoking again to make me feel better. I didn’t get professional help to stop me from drugs and stuff, I just had the encouragement from friends and family.

I’m so proud of myself for quitting it ALL, I feel so much healthier now. I encourage you all out there who are struggling from similar experiences, please do whatever you can to stop yourself…

Going to a quiet place by yourself, or even just knowing you’re surrounded by people who care, really helps…

Hi!

i am sanam.

i started smoking when i was 10. After that my freinds introduced some more drugs like alcohol, browsugar, tablets and capsules, marijuana and other harmful drugs.

Because of drugs i lost my family support, society ignored me,i sleep on footpaths and on railway stations,i spent many days without food, nobody was there to help me.

After this i got a message of a de-addiction centre. i shared my problem. They admitted me and they gave me treatment. Thanks to God and the people who helped me, because of that treatment from last one and a half year i am living a drug free life.

From 1 year i am working in de-addiction centres against drugs. now i am 18 years old, my family and society had started accepting me. now i am living happily.thanks again to God for giving me a new life……

Me too!

Hi Tamara,

It is good to hear that you are on the right track to recovery. I too was molested starting when I was around 6 and I honestly can’t remember when it stopped.

I was molested by men and women so I struggled with my sexuality in my teen years. However, I am now 40 years old and am very successful in my life. I can say that it was tough getting here, but with much prayer and determination I and you will continue to make it.

I made up in my mind that it was not me who was the problem but those that had abused me. They had an illness. I still have to encourage myself that I am just a good as anyone else, but at the end of the day, My world is alright.

I pray you continued success in all of your endeavors.

Dear Tamara,

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I am SO GLAD that you are clean-keep up the good work! It is great to hear! I am glad that you quit at such a young age and did not ruin a lot of life by using alcohol and drugs.

Have you ever been to an Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meeting? They are very helpful and there you would meet others in the same or similar situation as yourself.

Good luck to you. I am a recovering alcoholic and I have not drank for 25 years.

I will say a prayer for you-Sincerely, Lynette
