One day at a time

by Darlene

(Nederland, TX)

I was addicted to crack cocaine and loss my children and almost my life. I have been clean and sober for 6 1/2 yrs. It was the hardest thing i ever did in my life. I did have to get a sponsor and work a 12 step program. This program saved my life.

I totally lost everything to drugs and the worse was not being there for my children who are now grown with their own struggles with addiction. But a higher power that i choose to call God has given me another chance at life.

I continue to go to meetings and i also go to Al-anon to deal with the struggle of addict behavior. It’s kind of a blessing to have been an addict because i get to be an example to my daughter who is in treatment to and 3 months, pregnant, and has already lost 2 kids that i am raising.

But there is hope if she will do the work. So no matter what your struggle or choice of drug if you want a better life it is out there. But just like you would do anything for that high, you have to be willing to do anything for that recovery. May the God of your understanding be with you. Good luck and God bless.

and Finally Remember:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
