You Need To Get Help

by: Ned Wicker

You have already taken a very important step to your recovery. You know you have a problem and you know you need to do something about it.

My first thought is for you to see your doctor. That is a confidential relationship and it?s a good place to start.

You said your family is not aware of your drug issues, which I think is a mistake.

The important thing is for your child to be safe and well cared for. If you and your fiancé? are using, this is not being a good parent.

Addiction is a family disease, so please have a family meeting. I can tell you that your continued drug use will surely be an invitation for disaster, especially if you or your man get caught buying, selling or using.

Can you not turn to your parents, or his parents, tell them what is going on and ask for their help?

You want the best for your child and for yourselves, so that means you need to change directions.

You need to take care of yourself.

I also sense that maybe you?re more concerned about this than he is, but this is something you both need to do together.

Families need to go through this together.

Meetings

Kelly,

Have you guys tried 12 step meetings? They are free of charge and no matter where you live there is usually a meeting somewhere every single day.

I spent a lot of money on counseling and therapists and I truly have to say that the meetings helped me the most!

I am over five years sober and never thought I would pull a few days together of being sober. Good luck and God Bless:)
