Quinine powder used with heroin

by: Debbie Wicker

Quinine powder can be used to cut into heroin because it’s bitter tastes stops the buyer from being able to judge the quality of the heroin they’re purchasing, but it also increases the “rush” when it’s injected with the heroin.

Quinine is a relatively deadly drug and many deaths have been caused because of allergic reactions to the quinine in the heroin. Shooting heroin is a really bad idea, shooting it when mixed with quinine is an even worse idea.

There are few other uses for quinine powder, so if you have found some you should be EXTREMELY concerned! It was used for malaria but that was a long time ago.

Thanks!

Help for my son

by: Anonymous

I just found out that my 30 yr. old son just started injecting heroin mixed with quinine and snorting it. He went from opiate use to alcohol. We got him into rehab.

Then sober living 3 days but wow he looked great! For whatever reason, I may never know the truth, he became very ill and they left him lay. I came to take him to ER. They admitted him to the step down unit bag, after bag of potassium.

My mistake was letting him come home. He was on his own living with a girlfriend that barely worked, overpriced home. Drunk 24/7 and drove a tow truck which he was as about to be fired from… now I am aware this not about me but I was a nurse did a lot of pro-bono for inmates to get real help instead of being a revolving door.

Somewhere I missed my own son. Prisons are horrible, drugs flow heavily. Family and the person should fear for their life…. so here I am no physical sick, found a needle a cut straw (in paper) in his top dresser. He is on a road to self destruction.

I have lost my contacts who maybe could have helped. We spent a lot of money on rehab and sober living with all this fine print about refunds. For now he still has insurance he had been paying on them, then when he started working we gave him his bills back.

We were really struggling and he was bringing in 1100/week. Not us I haven’t been able to work for 4 yrs. So now, no job, running out of money I am afraid for him….depressed, his father took his own life in 2005…we were not together.

He makes strange noises when he sleeps. I got check and move him. I do not have Narcan. We told him he had to get out when we found this but, he had nowhere to go and I lost the tough love it’s killing my marriage.

His sister, who is like his twin is falling apart. Any advice. All place that would take his (expensive) insurance has waiting list. If he would go. I’m very open with him and he gets mad but I tell him I am your mother I have that privilege.

I’m really am at a loss. Except for prayer! I believe God has watched over him thus far for our prayers but he has to want it. He’s killing himself right before our eyes.

Please help in any way!

Go to local Al-anon meeting for support

by: Debbie Wicker

Dear Anonymous,

It sounds like you are in a terrible situation with your son, who has a long-term drug and alcohol addiction. Addiction attacks the brain and changes the addict into a person capable of anything and who you will no longer recognize as your son.

Allowing you son to live with you and to destroy your marriage will not help him to end his addiction. Living with you limits his ability to feel the consequences of his addiction and likely enables him to continue to abuse drugs and alcohol.

I would recommend that you go to local Al-anon meetings AT LEAST three times a week and begin working the 12 steps and finding a sponsor. There are probably many local resources that you son could tap into if he is willing to seek them out.

He certainly could go to the Salvation Army that has an wonderful addiction recovery program, which is free.

You may also want to consider doing an intervention with a trained addiction interventionist. You need to set good boundaries with your son and then stick to them, regardless of what he chooses to do. That is the best way to help him to end his addiction.

There is always hope and God is good and your son needs to turn to God for help and support.

May God be with you and your family,

Debbie

I’m in recovery

This recommendation is not for everyone, but I could not stop using. I had tried Suboxone on and off for years and now I’m clean because I have begun using methadone which has kept me clean for 2 years now. Now at first, people still use on methadone, they tell you to use as little as possible but once he gets to a level that is good he won’t need to use. It took me three weeks to stop using and we have to go to group but it’s worth it. Some doctors like this may prescribe it but the clinics make you go to group and Narcan is free at the pharmacy in most states if you tell them you have an addiction. Methadone is a last resort but it worked for me!

If its effecting your life that much, its not time for tough love. Unfortunately, the best recourse is to drop ties with your son entirely. Hopefully, that will awaken him to what collateral damage he has done, and reprise.

Wow!!!

I myself turned my back on those who used heroin. They are now DEAD!! I will never turn my back on a person I love for any reason at all.

If you love someone especially a child of yours you don’t give up on them for anything. You laid down and chose to make a baby… that’s your baby and you don’t ever stop loving and fighting for them. Period!!!!! I’m an alcoholic and have tried heroin it’s the DEVIL AND NEEDS TO GO AWAY IDC OR KNOW HOW BUT THE GOVERNMENT IS CAPABLE OF STOPPING THIS STUFF BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY WANT US TO KILL OURSELVES. I MEAN REALLY THIS DRUG IS AN OPIATE WHICH IS GIVEN TO PATIENTS WHO ARE IN PAIN THEN WHEN THEY NO LONGER HAVE INSURANCE OR JUST GET CUT OFF THE MEDS HAVE NO CHOICE……. NO CHOICE…… BUT TO USE SOMETHING ELSE WHICH IS HEROIN.. WHICH IS CHEAPER AND EASIER TO FIND THEN MARIJUANA WHICH IS HELPING PEOPLE BUT THAT’S ANOTHER STORY LOL ANY WAY MY POINT IN ALL THIS IS HELPING PEOPLE YOU LOVE IS WHAT HUMANS DO!!! ESPECIALLY YOUR OWN CHILD!!

It helped me.
