Where can my brother detox and get treatment?

by Monica

To whom it may concern.

I would like to know where to find a clinic or hospital for my brother, where he can get help to detox. He has, I think medicare.

My question is; How much will a treatment for 6 month cost? Or medicare will pay all. He has no money to pay extra. How can I help him. We are poor family that does not have money for clinic treatment. If you could recommend somewhere where he won’t have to pay, we’ll really appreciate your help.

Thank you

With kind regards

Monica

Medicare does pay for some addiction treatment

by: Debbie Wicker

Dear Monica,

Visit this web page for complete information about what treatment and detox medicare will pay for:

It looks like they do pay for treatment if a doctor prescribes it and states that it is MEDICALLY necessary. Your brother needs to go to his doctor or to an Emergency Room and ask for treatment for his addiction.

They will often admit him to the hospital for the detoxification process and then transfer him to another facility for treatment.

Treatment costs vary widely and can be very inexpensive or can cost more than $10,000 a day.

He should begin the process of treatment by attending AA or NA meetings DAILY for 90 days to learn and understand the disease he is fighting within his brain.

You could also help your brother by attending Al-anon meetings in your area. The more you understand about the disease of addiction the more help you will be able to provide your brother.

Good Luck and I hope your brother is able to get the treatment he needs.

Debbie
