I have a friend who has been on drugs for many years?

by Lindsay

I have a friend who has been on drugs for many years has lost rights to all her kids, moved from Marquette Michigan to Saginaw Michigan, needless to say she is on heroin and feels she has no one.

She has been there for about 3 years off and on Methadone at the clinic there, none of her family can support her, either physically mentally or emotionally.

I received a phone call today that concerns me. I feel this is her wanting to die and no one can hear my cry for help or concern. Her Name is Ashley, please help her in anyway I think she needs some encouragement uplifting and upright HELP!

With any drug addiction suicide is a very real risk!

Dear Lindsay,

I share your concern about Ashley. She is probably at very high risk because of all that you’ve described. Unfortunately, we don’t contact people directly but you can call our addiction counselors and ask their advise as to your best course of action to help your friend. Their number is 877.260.1145 and they are available to help 24/7.

Can you go and visit her? Your company might be just the support she needs to make it through this terribly difficult time. She might also be willing to go into treatment and stop using.

Heroin addiction is a deadly disease so any support she receives may help her to understand that she is in a life and death struggle.

Good luck,

Debbie
