Consequences

by: Ned Wicker

Judi,
You cannot have a heroin addict in your home. The addict will lie, cheat and steal everything to support the addiction and you don’t matter.

If an addict refuses to be treated and get healthy, they have to leave. It sounds harsh and cruel, but you have to draw your line in the sand and force the issue.

Dear Judi-I am very sorry to here about your predicament, but thanks for contacting this chat room.

I’m not quite sure what to tell you to do. I sounds like, perhaps, you should contact a lawyer and ask them what you can do.

I wish I could help you more but I am not a professional – just a recovering alcoholic with a son who has been struggling with substance abuse.

One thing that you could do for yourself is to go to an Al Anon meeting, if you have them in England. The meetings are for friends and families of alcoholics and drug addicts. There you will meet others in the same or similar situation as yourself. I go to the meetings and it has helped me immensely.

I also talk to my clergy, see a counselor, and see a physician’s assistant. Please get some help for YOURSELF. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

I will pray for you-Lynette
